HIPAAT is a proud member of the following organizations:
DirectTrust is a collaborative non-profit association of 124 health IT and health care provider organizations to support secure, interoperable health information exchange via the Direct message protocols. DirectTrust has created a “trust framework” that extends use of Direct exchange to over 94,000 health care organizations and 1,428,032 Direct addresses/accounts. This trust framework supports both provider-to-provider Direct exchange and bi-directional exchange between consumers/patients and their providers.
DirectTrust’s trust framework makes it easy for health care professionals, health IT vendors and their patients/ customers to communicate securely, with identity proofing and regardless of end-user application. Over 300 EHR and PHR vendors’ products, and over 50 HIEs, participate in the DirectTrust network, ensuring interoperability and security via Direct for exchange of health information to more than half the professionals in the U.S. health care system.
The Mission of “GPS by Design” is to dispel the commonly held view, held by governments, businesses, the media and public at large — that one must choose between privacy and public safety or business interests (data analytics). Our goal is to educate stakeholders that one can develop policies and technologies that achieve both – privacy and public safety; privacy and big data – that is, positive-sum not zero-sum.
In other words, our goal is to demonstrate that mass surveillance of personal data is not necessary to keep society safe from terrorists and criminals. In order to accomplish this goal, it will be necessary to educate by example, that is, to be able to point to technology solutions that are positive-sum in design.
